MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (May 9, 2012) – When the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda title chase resumes this weekend (May 11-12) at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, the team everyone will be looking up at in the driver standings will be JDC MotorSports. The renowned Minnesota-based squad enters Rounds Five and Six with rookie star Mikhail Goikhberg as the championship leader, thanks to four consecutive podium finishes and an inaugural series win last time out in Utah.

The goal for JDC MotorSports right from day one in Prototype Lites was to win races and challenge for championships. The multiple junior formula championship-winning team is doing just that thus far in 2012. With USF2000 Championship race-winning graduate Goikhberg behind the wheel of the No. 10 JDC MotorSports Elan DP02 entry, the team has visited the post race podium in all four races to start the season, standing on the top step for the first time in Round Three. Goikhberg and his talented JDC crew will now look to keep the momentum going in northern California.

While Goikhberg enters the Prototype Lites doubleheader at Laguna Seca with no previous series experience at the undulating road course, he does having a winning pedigree at the famed track. The Russian born racer captured top honors in 2010, piloting a JDC MotorSports entry into victory lane during a non-points USF2000 Championship race. When combined with his start of the season run of form, Goikhberg and JDC are poised to once again be part of the post race celebrations.

"I like Laguna Seca a lot," stated Goikhberg. "It is where I first drove a race car, and I won here before. Our goal is to come out of this weekend in the points lead."

The on-track action for JDC MotorSports' Goikhberg at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca officially commences on Thursday (May 10), with the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda cars taking part in two practice runs and the lone qualifying session. Round Five is slated to get underway on Friday (May 11) at 10:05 a.m. local time, followed by Round Six on Saturday (May 12) at 9:10 a.m. Goikhberg enters the two races with a two point lead in the championship fight, while JDC MotorSports is second - two points back - in the team standings.
