Brian Johnson, lead singer of hard rock band AC/DC, has announced he will join the Dunlop Radical UK Cup field at the Oulton Park Circuit at the end of July, racing a Radical UK Works Team SR8 RX.
The English-born singer and lyricist, who is an experienced club and pro racer, will make his Radical UK Cup debut following an initial outing in a Radical last year. Johnson first drove a Radical SR3 at Palm Beach International Raceway in Florida in February 2011, and was impressed with the car’s performance and handling after instruction from the endurance racing pro racer pro Shane Lewis. When asked what he thought of the car, he replied “that’s the best #*@%ing car I’ve ever driven!” This subsequently led the AC/DC frontman to look at other opportunities to drive and/or race a Radical, resulting in his joining the Radical UK Cup.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, Johnson is an avid racing enthusiast. In addition to his test in a radical SR3, he has contested the 2012 Rolex 24 at Daytona, finishing 12th in class in a Dinan/BMW Daytona Prototype, and raced at the Silverstone Classic event. |
