The SPEED EuroSeries will be on STAND 6850 at the Autosport International Racing Car Show at the NEC in Birmingham from January 13-16.
The stand will showcase the new look EuroSeries, and act as a meeting point for teams and manufacturers to meet drivers and suppliers, all of whom are invited to come along to the stand to discuss the season ahead. 2011 registration forms will be available for teams, drivers and manufacturers to secure a valuable spot on the grid.
The stand will also feature the brand new WF03 chassis from racing car constructors WFR Limited. Designed by Peter Elleray (of Le Mans Bentley and Radical SR9 notoriety), it has proved quick in testing and should bring even more competition for the established manufacturers. Featuring an aluminium honeycomb tub, carbon composite crash structure, pull rod suspension front and rear, the Honda Mugen 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder, power plant as standard, a Hewland 6 speed gearbox with paddleshift and Motec electronics, the car represents the excellent standards present in SPEED and will be unveiled for the first public viewing on the stand.
Jonathan France of WFR will appear alongside 2010 UK Speed Series winners, Warren Hughes and Jody Firthon the Autosport Stage on the Friday, as part of a SPEED exposé, where they will be presented with their trophies from the 2010 UK series.
“The new look SPEED EuroSeries aims to help teams, drivers and commercial partners operate on the biggest sportscar platform around," stated SPEED EuroSeries organiser, Oli McCrudden. "We’re racing at the Le Mans Series events in 2011 which puts our whole show under the spotlight right next to the LMS players. Its serious business and he Autosport International Show gives us the high profile start we’re looking for. We’re delighted to have the new WFR chassis on display. A number of new chassis are being built by manufacturers which is proof that CN sports prototype racing is a high-potential growth area in motorsport and, and, judging by early registrations, the format is proving attractive.”
The 2011 SPEED EuroSeries, recognised by Honda Motor Europe, will feature the Honda powered CN chassis from the likes of Ligier, Norma, WFR, Wolf, Juno, Jade, Gloria, Promec, Lucchini, Osella and Radical. Control tyres from Cooper Tires and Shell Racing Fuel will limit costs and a mandatory sealed ECU ensures a level playing field. Global TV coverage is booked.
SPEED’s season begins at Circuit Paul Ricard before moving on to Circuit Spa-Francorchamps in May, Donington Parck Circuit in June, Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in July, Silverstone Circuit in September and Autódromo do Estoril later the same month. |
