SCCA: Sportracer Challenge Opener Confirmed for High Plains Raceway

The inaugural two races of the Sportsracer Challenge have been confirmed, with top Enterprise Sports Racer drivers gathering at High Plains Raceway on June 30 and July 1, as part of the SCCA Freedom Sprints Double National.

With the goal of providing the Enterprise Sports Racer class a competitive, yet fun, racing environment, the Sportsracer Challenge will feature two doubleheader events in 2012, before expanding to a planned four event schedule in 2013.

The first-ever series event will witness a talented field of racers taking to the modern High Plains Raceway road course in Colorado at the end of June. Among those expected to challenge for top honors will be sports racer standouts Mike Davies, Chris Funk, and Keith Scharf. The trio all have extensive pro and amteur racing experience, with multiple wins and championships on their combined resumes.

Competing as part of the "Wings and Things" race group during the Freedom Sprints Double National event, the ESR racers will not only have the opportunity to fight for top honors, but also be able to take home contingency awards from Mazda and Hoosier, as well as raffle prizes. A social gathering will also take place on Saturday evening at the KC Racing Hospitality trailer provided by Chris Funk and Kelly Toombs - owners of KC Racing.
