| LMP Challenge: Merchant Services Leads Testing in Canada |
Merchant Services Racing was the fastest Prototype Challenge team when the American Le Mans presented by Tequila Patrón event at the newly renamed Canadian Tire Motorsport Park unofficially commenced on Friday (July 20) with testing.
Thanks to a lap of 1:11.371 (124.034 mph), the No. 8 ORECA FLM09 of Kyle Marcelli and Matt Downs was the car to be in the lone run for the Prototype Challenge cars on day one in Canada. Local racer Marcelli, who calls the high-speed road outside of Toronto home, was the PC pole-winner last year.
RSR Racing’s No. 9 entry of Bruno Junquiera and Tomy Drissi sat second at 1:11.659 (123.535 mph) when the checkered flag waved, while CORE autosport’s No. 05 ORECA was third at 1:11.775 (123.335 mph). Colin Braun and Jon Bennett – class winners of the last two ALMS rounds – share that car.
The chase for American Le Mans presented by Tequila Patrón supremacy at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park resumes on Saturday (July 21), with qualifying in Canada.
The top-three will be posted following every session on the ESR Facebook page and ESR Twitter page.
